What we do...
Hello and welcome,
we generally get all the customer contact information, unit type and power requirements. We currently only require deposits for reservations made for "holiday" weekends. (But require full payment for online reservations)
Upon check in we verify contact information, collect the payment. Then we print two copies of the receipt. One on plain white paper (our copy that is signed) and a piece of colored paper for the camper copy. The colored paper is folded in half and we use a permanent marker to write their campsite number on and their departure date. Their copy is then placed on their dash board of the vehicle entering the campground.
This allows us to see their receipt when they reenter the campground. If we do not see their receipt, then we will stop them and ask to see it.
This has stopped many "unpaid" visitors from entering without paying the visitor fees.
We had considered mirror tags, but some vehicles do not have windshield rear view mirrors. And we eliminate the cost of the tags for each vehicle the camper brings along. (a colored piece of paper is much less than a window tag)
For the campers guests/visitors, we use a car pass, generally a different color each day to eliminate the guests from re-entering the following day(s). The window tags are generic tags available from a variety of sources. We simply write the date in big numbers and the site they are visiting in a smaller number. (This helps locate the vehicles owner when they park in areas they were instructed not to park)
Hope this helps....
