View Full Version : Where do you invest your advertising $$ ?

We purchased this park in Nov. 07. The former owner had a full page ad in TL and a small ad in Woodalls at the total cost of about 10 grand!
We elected not to do as big as ad for the 09 edition in TL and also cut the Woodalls ad altogether.

We think this was a good move on our part. We increased on-line advertisement and used "deals" on our web site in order to entice guests to come to our park. It worked for us. Our business is up over last year.

For the 2009 season we are going to continue our on-line advertising but shift some of our ad $ to local media.

Any thoughts??

There are a few sites that will advertise your park free of charge. I know friendlyrvparks does it. not sure what the exact website is but just do a google search for rv parks. Im sure you'll find it. we have consentrated our advertising money on the internet and dollar for dollar it has paid off. Hope this helps

When we were spending over 10 grand with TL and Woodalls. Then we used “How Found” on CGM to find out we were getting less that 1% of our customers from them. For the money spent, we never even broke even on the cost of the add.

We did make an offer to both TL and Woodalls of what we could pay for their adds given the poor response from the adds and we got a rude reply from the sales reps. So we spent the money else where. Everyone’s campground is different and if the campground is next to interstate then TL & Woodalls may be a worth the money. But it did not work for us.

For the money spent, our web site and internet adverting to drive traffic to our web site is the best money we have ever spent. You should take a look at the Missouri Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (MOARC) web site and get on it to help drive more campers to your web site.

We have a campground link page on our web site and would be happy to swap links if you want. We will link to any campground that will link back to us. If you want to take a look at it here is the link: http://www.mistyriverrv.com/localattractionslinks/othercampgrounds.html
The link page is just one of the things that we do that helps us to stay on googles front page when you look for campgrounds in out area. The more links you have on the web, the better google likes your site.

We do run “deals” from time to time on our web site and also have a newsletter that works well for us. We only run one print add on the back page of the local tourist paper. Other than that print adds are a thing of the past I believe and your money is much better spent on your web site. :D

Hello Jimmy-
Yes we have our park on the MOARK site here: http://www.campinmissouri.com/index.php?option=com_jea&view=properties&layout=default&Itemid=64&task=search&id=53
We also have a myspace page-http://www.myspace.com/bransonrvpark

FaceBook- http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/pages/Forsyth-MO/Shoals-Bend-RV-Resort/101273349890?ref=ts

And I also Twitter ( my wife shakes- I twitter ) https://twitter.com/ShoalsBendPark

I did not run and add at all for the 2010 TL directory and I only had a small ad in 2009. I also run specials on our site, www.shoalsbendrvpark.com ,and have had some pretty good success. I was just curious as to how folks spent most of their $$ on advertising. I guess we are of the same mind set...internet is the best advertising vehicle out there.

I would be interested in swapping links. I will set up a "Links" page on my site soon and will email or give you a call. Thanks for the info.
