    Default Hughesnet/ satellite port forward

Is anyone doing port forwarding for remote access of CGM using a satellite system to access the internet?

    Thanks...

Technically it should be possible, but I've seen some issues with it (not sure if they were ever resolved), like not being able to get through due to some unknown firewall or router issue.

In general, having the Master be on a satellite connection would not work well -- if it needs to send the full database, the upload speed is way too slow. But having a client be on satellite should be fine since very little data is typically uploaded from a client. Of course the round-trip delay can be rather annoying.

    Stan,
Thanks. I know in the past Hughesnet used 1 server to send and another to receive, which caused problems with secure site. I cannot get a definite answer from Hughesnet , 1. if they still do that and 2 if they have open ports. On different blogs, some say that all the ports are open on the hughnet modem/router and others say they are all closed. Hughesnet is no help.
MTR only want to use it for support and also when they are at a show about 3 a year, so I think even if it is slow, it should work for them.
Next time I am at MTR, I will try some things and will let you know.

I really like the new feature of the new version of CGM that tells me how the full database transfer is working. I use it at Circle E and it really helps and seems to be a lot faster.

    Thanks..
