    Default cayan cc processing

I see there is a new "integrated" CC processor Cayan. I am looking to switch from OpenEdge due to the fee structure has increased dramatically over the years. I called Cayan and they told me there is no software like x-charge that runs in the background that you have to install. Instead you just change the settings in CM and you can take cards. Is this correct????
Also, if I want a Pin machine to take debit cards and get the lower rate, I need to pay $25 per month for each reader. Is there another way, can I purchase some kind of pin pad that integrates with CM???

    Thanks

    Scott

That's correct, Cayan does not require software to be installed. Campground Master integrates with it directly over the internet.

For a PIN pad (also chip card support), you must use their "Genius" hardware. I'm not sure if that's the $25/month you're referring to or if they have an option to buy them outright.

Yes, that is the genius unit, which looks like a good unit.

Now I assume that I can still use my card swipers that I have been using if I decide not to get their readers correct???

Yes, you can still use it with the simple Magtek swipes. (At least until chip cards become mandatory.)

Ok, so I went ahead and went with CAYAN. Night and day over open edge. First of all, there is no software that runs in the background. You put a couple things in CM which takes 30 seconds and your are processing cards. its much faster then xcharge. Secondly, I was getting all kinds of bogus fees with openedge. Not so with Cayan. My effective rate this month was 4.4% on all card not present transactions. I expect it to be close to 3% during our season when most are card present and or debit. I highly recommend this over openedge. The only negative is they want $600 each for chip/debit terminals. Of course you cannot do debit without it and you are at risk for the swiped cards.

Stan I just got this from cayan

'If your POS doesn’t support TLS 1.1 or 1.2 by July 1, 2018, you will no longer be able to process card transactions as of that day. If this happens, you’ll have to contact everyone involved in your payments, starting with your POS provider and payment processor, to find out which systems need to be updated. As a result, you’ll likely lose sales and revenue because you won’t be able to process cards during this time. '

Does CM meet 1.1 or 1.2???

Just reporting back, cayan so far is light years ahead of x-charge open edge. Processing happens in a second, nothing runs is background so no timeout issues, etc.....cheaper, better all the way around so far.
