Viewing Journal Entries

Journal entries can be viewed through the main menu's View / Journal Entries command.  If done through that menu, the it shows the "Main system" journal entries by default, and you can also add or edit entries for the Main System.  You can View and Edit the entry for any record type, however you can only Add entries for the Main System -- the Add button is only enabled if "Main system journal" is selected as the entries to show.

 

You'll also find a "Journal" button at the bottom of Reservation Details, Customer Details, Site Details, Vendor Details, and the Edit Inventory Item dialogs.  This Journal button will take you to a list of any existing entries for that particular record, and will limit viewing to those.  This is also where you would view the details, add a new entry or edit an existing entry.

 

Note that if viewing journal entries from Reservation Details, you'll have the option to also include the Customer record's entries.  Likewise if viewing from Customer Details, you can opt to include journal entries from all of that customer's reservations.

 

Each entry is tagged with the date and time, as well as the operator who made the entry.  

 

This list also function as a reporting tool, with filtering and sorting.  All fields are shown except the Operator who made it (that can be seen for individual entry by Viewing it).  If you accessed the list from the main menu (View / Journal Entries), you can choose to view the Main system journal, all entries for a specific record type (Reservation, Site, etc.), or to view All records.  You can also filter entries by the date made, if desired.

 

Click on any column heading to sort by that column.  You can Print the list or Export the list to a CSV file, as with all other reports.
